Orders and order processes as a fundamental property of dynamics of design-related research in architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture were the focus of the symposium, which took place within the research field 'DARA. Design and Research in Architecture and Landscape'. With which elementary components and principles of order is the search directed? In which structural relations are these connected to shape knowledge? Introductory lectures by the peers Prof. Dr. Tom Avermaete, Prof. Dr. Angelika Schnell, Prof. Christiane Soerensen and Prof. Dr. Georg Vrachliotis as well as Prof. Katja Benfer, Prof. Martin Prominski and Prof. Dr. Jonna M. Krarupt contributed to summarize previous findings, to show fundamental levels of understanding of complex orders as well as to outline spaces of possibility. Overarching aspects of the symposium were further developed in a workshop in a more pragmatic and experimental way. Finally, the 5th International Peer Review Doctoral Colloquium entitled 'Complex Order' took place under the direction of Prof. Dr. Margitta Buchert.
