Topics and strategies in the context of designing and researching for the future strategies in architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture were the focus of the symposium, which took place within the research field 'DARA_Design and Research in Architecture'. How can the production and reception as well as overarching phenomena and specific modes of perception of architecture be observed, questioned and described? Which design-related and scientific forms of thinking and acting promote the processing of architecture-related research projects? Introductory lectures by the peers Prof. Anne-Julchen Bernhardt, Prof. Dr. Sonja Hildebrand, Prof. Dr. Albert Schmid-Kirsch and Prof. Dr. Angelika Schnell as well as Prof. Hilde Léon and Prof. Almut Grüntuch-Ernst helped to summarize previous findings, to point out fundamental levels of understanding and to outline spaces of possibility. In a joint workshop, topics of the symposium were further developed in a more pragmatic and experimental way. Subsequently, the fourth International Peer Review Doctoral Colloquium entitled 'topics & strategies' took place under the direction of Prof. Dr. Margitta Buchert.
