The gain of knowledge as an inherent part of design processes in architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture was the focus of the symposium, which was held within the research field 'DARA Design and Research in Architecture'. What potentials do the designing as a complex process and the design media as communication tools open up beyond the discipline of architecture and urban planning? Which individual and collective goals can be concretely connected with applied or theoretical-systematic design research? Introductory presentations by peers Prof. Ute Frank, Prof. Dr. Christoph Grafe, Prof. Dr. Angelika Schnell, and Associate Prof. Dr. Lara Schrijver, as well as Prof. Alban Janson, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Jonas, Prof. Dr. Ullrich Schwarz, and Prof. Sophie Wolfrum helped summarize previous findings, highlight fundamental levels of understanding of Reflexive Design, and outline spaces of possibility. In the following, the third International Peer Review Doctoral Colloquium entitled 'Reflexive Design' took place under the direction of Prof. Dr. Margitta Buchert.
