The focus of the symposium, which took place within the research field 'DARA. Design and Research in Architecture' under the direction of Prof. Dr. Margitta Buchert, was the exchange of goals, contents and methods on questions of the connection between design and research in architecture and urban planning and their theoretical and projective contexts. What correlations exist in relation to the production and reception of architecture, to knowledge and design, to logic and design, to conception and mediation, or to different design methods and approaches? How can the associated individual and collective goals be described? An introductory workshop was held in which the presenters in teams questioned and deepened the topic of 'correlations', which was then discussed and further developed with peers Prof. Dr. Jos Bosman, V.-Prof. Dr. Dagmar Jäger, Prof. Dr. Albert Schmid-Kirsch, and Prof. Dr. Margitta Buchert. Subsequently, dissertation projects were presented in short lectures and reflected in their scientific contexts.
