Abstract

Complex capital goods such as train wheel sets are repaired at defined intervals of time or mileage. The diagnosis of actual damage takes place at the factory. In cooperation with three industrial partners the IFW is developing a system that detects the condition of wheelsets during their time of operation and transmits it to the maintenance site for the optimization of production planning and control. This paper presents the approach of a condition- based maintenance, the selection of necessary sensors and the modelling and validation of a production process simulation.
