Abstract

This paper presents the state of research work on calculation methods for the analysis of fire-exposed steel and composite structures. The computation of the critical temperature of steel structures based on the plastic hinge theory is described and discussed. The comparison between experimental and analytical results does not show agreement in all cases. Therefore some necessary improvements and extensions of the calculation methods including considerations about composite members are proposed.
