Abstract
A study of transfer function-based partial discharge (PD) localization in power transformers was presented. Two techniques for electric PD measurements namely, narrow band and wide band were discussed. The use of sectional winding transfer functions (SWTF) for online PD evaluation in power transformers which has several advantages was also discussed. The advantages are: localization of PD sources, discrimination between PDs inside or outside of the transformer, and evaluation of actual PD amplitudes along the winding.
