N2 - The feasibility of the sphere as an idealized multi-mode multi-port direction finding antenna is investigated. Constraints for port implementations on the sphere are derived from group theory, based on the symmetry properties of the sphere. An example excitation setup is compared to a similar one on a cube. It is found that a spherical antenna has the potential to treat different polarizations equally.
