Abstract

The asset management enables the electric grid operators to achieve its organisational objectives. Since a characteristic feature of asset management is individuality, this study identifies similarities and differences between electric grid operators and derives which characteristics of asset management appear to be effective under which circumstances. Therefore, a questionnaire was designed to access the four topics asset management, asset strategies, health index and online monitoring systems. The answers of the participants (n = 18) were classified by the kind of system operator, the number of managed assets, the number of cost-intensive assets, and the circuit length of cables and overhead lines. The study finds cost-intensive assets and a high number of assets correlate with a higher probability of triggering maintenance measures by intervals and replacements by condition. It is also more likely that replacements have been prioritised, a health index developed, and monitoring systems installed.
