Abstract

The aim of this paper is regarded as a main task to study the parameters that mostly influence life time of high voltage transformers. It is shown that the initial moisture content of cellulose paper has a decisive role in the degradation rate of this later, the higher the initial humidity, accelerates very strongly the degradation. The presence of oxygen however markedly increases the degradation rate. The influence of oxygen and moisture on the aging process of this solid insulation have been separately investigated. Their influences seem to be of the same dimension order. The presence of metallic catalysts accelerates the aging process of the cellulose papers too.
