Abstract
In order to obtain information regarding the ability to radiate electromagnetic energy during the layout phase of PCB design numerical methods are often applied. Because of the complex nature of practical designs this requires very involved modeling as well as time consuming calculations. The interconnects of internal layers of PCB sandwiched between power and ground plane do not contribute to the overall emission due to the shielding effect of the planes but are to be discretize anyway. In this communication an approach is presented that combines transmission line and circuit theory with the Method of Moments integral equation procedure in order to reduce the complexity of the system to be solved. This is achieved by modeling the a-priori non-radiating interconnects via transmission line theory.
