Abstract
Different optical sensing systems based on fluorometric detection for biotechnological purposes are presented. A fibre fluorometric sensor is described for monitoring the NADPH-dependent fluorescence of an enzyme complex from Z. mobilis for the analysis of glucose, fructose, gluconolactone or sorbitol. Optical chemosensors for pH and oxygen concentration were used as transducers for biooptodes for glucose, urea and pencillin. A two-channel device for the simultaneous monitoring of penicillin and pH is presented. Two fibre optic based immunosensors are described for the analysis of herbicides, mycotoxins and biotin. The use of the biotin sensor for the monitoring of a cultivation of recombinant E. coli is discussed.
