Abstract
This paper presents an estimation of the maximum directivity of desktop devices with attached cables above a conductive ground. In contrast to previous analysis the electromagnetic emissions are dominated by the cable. It is shown that established estimations of the maximum directivity are not suitable in this case. A new approach is introduced and discussed. It is shown that the directivity can be estimated with basic antenna structures when the parameters are chosen properly.
