Abstract
During the subsequent application of thermal insulation measures on three-layered external walls (sandwich panels) of large panel buildings in the new German federal states (Type WBS 70, P2, IW 64 etc.) it ist frequently recommended to install additional anchors to fix the weather-exposed layers. The results of a research work showed that the installation of these additional anchors, which leads to an increase in the rehabilitation coasts, is not necessary. This was proven through laboratory load-bearing tests as well as through large scale tests on existing buildings and through calculations. Consequently, the rehabilitation of more than 15 large scale projects was conducted without fixing the wheather exposed layers additionally. The conducted investigations included the following for every object: a) Determination of the actual condition of the load bearing anchors and of the existing weather exposed layers. b) Analytical determination of the load bearing capacity of the anchors, considering the actual conditions. The analytical proof was examined and approved by the responsible static examination departments.
