Abstract

In the current scientific literature, microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) is considered as an environmentally friendly alternative to reduce the permeability and improve the mechanical properties of the soil. In this study a modelling framework and numerical simulation of the complicated biological, chemical, hydraulic, and mechanical (BCHM) in MICP are presented. The performance of the modelling work is estimated based on the published experimental studies. The potential of this model in the optimization of the practice-relevant processes is shown in a simulation of a field test.
