Abstract
For a high-quality sintering process, it is crucial to know the process input parameters, such as the green body mixed state. The discrete element method allows to simulate the mixing and molding process. Segregation effects and the mixing quality can be evaluated as a function of the mixing time using a speciifically developed statistical, distance-based mixing crite-rion. Validation for critical evaluation of the simulation results is done using a test rig. This enables the design of the mixing and molding process for a consistent initial state of the sinte-ring process.
