Abstract
This article describes the development and functioning of an agent-based manufacturing execution System (MES) for the maintenance of complex capital goods. During the development phase a process chain Simulation at a German railway Company is built in order to test different algorithms for production planning and control (e.g. job scheduling, inventory management). In conclusion, the most effective algorithms are supposed to be implemented in the MES.
