Abstract
A major problem in the use of vision systems in industrial automation is their adaptation to changes in the scenes, e. g. , the appearance of new parts, changes in the surface properties of the objects, and variations in the illumination and/or the camera position. A system is presented to carry out this adaptation automatically by incorporating expert knowledge in the vision system itself that formerly was provided by the user.
