Abstract
A research project was initiated at the institut für Fördertechnik of the Universität Hannover to determine causes and extent of the indentation rolling resistance of belt conveyors. The measurement of indentation rolling resistance were performed with a 2-pulley test rig in a climate chamber. The influence of the compound and compound hardness on the indentation rolling resistance was discussed. The influence of the cover plate thickness and temperature on the indentation rolling resistance was studied. The forces acting between belt cover and idler can be influenced by locally varying friction factors between the belt cover and idler.
