N1 - Funding Information: The Fourth International ISDG Workshop in Goslar was organized by Michael H. Breitner assisted by Workshop secretary Miss Kristina Struckmeier, both from the Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik (transl. Institute for Information Systems Research) of the Universität Hannover. Before, during and after the Workshop Kristina Struckmeier won the heart of all participants providing her professional and warm assistance whenever and wherever needed. The almost 40 participants — mathematicians, engineers, economists and others — came from all over the world, e.g., from Australia, Japan, Canada, the United States of America, Arabia, Israel, Russia and Europe. The scientific level of the presentations and of the papers in the Proceedings — available from the Guest Editor — was very high. Moreover the participants could enjoy an interesting social program with a town walk, a mining tour, an official Workshop banquet and a hike to the famous mountain Brocken (Blocksberg in Johann Wolfgang Goethe’s drama Faust).
