Abstract
In the last years the estimation of the service life of buildings has won increasingly in importance. Not only corrosion but also the mechanical loading and thermal effects are important when estimating the behaviour of the load bearing capacity of a building. A reliable prognosis cannot be accomplished without considering the interaction of these effects. The paper presents the conception of a constitutive model able to estimate the influence of elevated temperature below l 00 °C on the mechanical properties ofconcrete namely on the compressive and tensile strength and the modulus ofelasticity as well as the working program for the laboratory investigations plannedin order to calibrate the model. The capabilities of the constitutive models are then shown with some exemplary calculations.
