Abstract

In this paper an innovative press drive is introduced. Linear motors in combination with electromagnets are used to supply high process forces near the bottom dead center of the ram. The intention behind that press drive is to increase the range of applications of direct linear driven presses. In this paper, the approach in choice of the linear motors and the design of the electromagnets are described.
