Abstract

Only little is known about the genetic transmission of important characters in roses. We are currently developing a series of crosses between diploid genotypes to study the genetics of disease resistance genes, to map them with molecular markers and to use these markers for marker assisted selection strategies. First results in crosses between R. multiflora derived genotypes demonstrate the usefulness of RAPD markers for the construction of a chromosome linkage map in Rosa.
