Abstract

This paper presents a simple modeling strategy for fast and efficient analysis of the dynamic response of bridges due to high-speed trains. The soil-structure interaction as well as the effect of the train on the structure during approach and after exit is considered. In the mechanical model, the bridge is described as an Euler-Bernoulli beam, which is crossed by the static axle loads of the high-speed train. Spring and damper at the boundaries of the beam represent the behavior of the soil. The results of an application example show that the soil-structure interaction affects significantly the predicted dynamic response.
