Abstract

The kinematic synthesis of linkage-mechanisms needs repeated and interlocking steps of dimensioning, kinematic analysis, evaluation and optimization. Serving this purpose, the program-system MOSYS has been developed at the "Institut für Getriebetechnik" of the University of Hannover. It enables free composition of "modules" to build up adapted programs. A substantial element of MOSYS lies in the coupling of the classical precision-point-synthesis with non-linear optimization methods. This especially in a way that the accuracy positions as input of the internal precision-point-synthesis themselves are treated as free optimization parameters. Thus one obtains excellent solutions in a much more effective way and without any restriction of the field of solution than by a stand-alone-optimization on the base of directly using only linkage dimensions as such parameters. The principle, the structure, and the mode of operation of MOSYS will be explained and exemplified.
