Abstract
The powerful looking wooden dome on the Neue Palais at the end of the magnificent main avenue in Park Sanssouci in Potsdam has, even over 250 years after its construction, a protruding and poignant effect on the viewer. With such buildings of the past, constructive and structural preservation measures must be carried out constantly. To create a basis for such measures, a plan for the study of the supporting structure of the historic wooden dome over the middle construction of the Neue Palais in Potsdam was carried out. Focus of the work presented here is a static examination of the existing dome, according to current design rules, by determining the existing structural reserves based on three-dimensional framework analysis. For this a detailed evaluation of the dome structure was necessary. The Neue Palais in Park Sanssouci is a world cultural heritage, which is owned by the Foundation for Prussian Palaces and Gar-dens Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG). At this point thanks go to the foundation for their responsive support.
