Abstract

The "Global Variant Production System" - globalization strategies for small and medium-sized businesses. The production of batch goods with many variants can no longer be considered as limited to certain locations. Products are now produced on a global basis, and plants are relocated for monetary reasons. But relocations driven by costs have a negative effect on rates of German employment in high wage countries. To counteract this trend, the Global Variant Production system is to be developed as a visionary potential solution. This system will enable businesses to act globally while retaining and developing the core skills and assembly capacities at their current location.
