Abstract
This article describes some investigations concerning the process of partial discharges (PD) in insulating liquids by comparing optical and electrical characteristic quantities of PD. The PD behaviour is recorded by synchronized Schlieren photos and oscillograms. The results of these investigations allow to establish a connection between optical and electrical characteristic appearances. The results are interpreted and discussed with the well known streamer theory.
