Abstract
A numerical simulation of an active media based forming process has been carried out by means of the finite element method, where molten plastic was used as pressure medium. The material behaviour of the sheet metal component has been modelled in the FEA package Ls-Dyna with a temperature dependent elasto-plastic material model. Besides that, the interaction between the sheet metal component and the molten plastic has been realized by means of the fluid structure coupling. The fundamental process parameters for a realistic modelling of the process under study were considered within the framework of this research. The represented numerical results show a good agreement with experimentally determined results.
