Abstract
This paper contains an investigation of the transverse vibrations of EULER-BERNOULLI beams under longitudinal tension and random space-time loading. Using GREEN's function the variances of the displacement and of the bendingstrain are calculated in closed form and possible differences in safety and performance requirements resulting from the use of different mathematical models for the spatial correlation of the excitation forces are indicated.
