Abstract
Evaluation of variants in pressure die casting moulds by Virtual Prototyping. Generally the design of the casting and the layout of the die casting mould proceed at different points and independent of each other. An early analysis of the effect of the casting geometry on mould design enables to clarify differences of variants in casting geometry and mould layout. Furthermore potentials of reducing costs of mould production and of finishing the cast can be recognized during bid arrangement. This paper shows that early predications about potentials for cost-optimizing mould or casting are possible, if analytical methods to evaluate variants of the mould are applied.
