Abstract
Since the first reported inscription of fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) in polymer optical fibres (POF) in 1999 [1], they have been employed as sensors for strain, temperature, humidity, pressure or bend measurement [2], [3]. A new and simple sensor concept is presented here which employs a multimode POF and one or multiple FBGs inscribed in the outer regions of the core to sense bending in 1D and 3D, respectively.
