Abstract

Global competition and customised products lead to contract manufacturers acquiring orders with smaller batch sizes under high price pressure with scarce personnel resources. At the same time, strained supply chains are creating opportunities for regional, small and medium sized enterprises to expand their product range. To do this, the existing workforce must be used more efficiently and work planning must be supported. In a reference scenario, an AI-supported method could already demonstrate an accuracy of over 90 % in the creation of work schedules.
