Abstract
A trimerized Kagomé lattice was created in a controlled way using currently available superlattice techniques. The physics of cold atomic gases in such an optical lattice was described by various versions of the Hubbard model. A Bose gas with repulsive interactions, a spinless Fermi gas with nearest-neighbor interactions, and a Fermi-Fermi mixture, were considered. The results show that the method opens the way for analyzing the paradigmatic problems of condensed-matter physics.
