Abstract
Solid state reactions (with the exception of intrinsic point defect equilibrations) are heterogeneous reactions. In a macroscopic sense no convectional transport is possible in crystalline solids. Solid state reactions occur by diffusional transport. They are induced by changes of the intensive variables, e.g. ΔT, ΔP or Δµ (k: component).
