Abstract
A new concept for a homodyne network analyzer is presented which uses at least two parallel mixers in phase quadrature instead of switched phase shifters or high quality single sideband components. According to this concept, a broadband network analyzer was built with the ability for self-calibration. The self-calibrating procedure needs only two uncalibrated standards and is described in this paper. Measured results in the W-band confirm the predicted quality of the hardware implementation.
