Abstract

The idea of knowledge-based engineering is to widely automate design tasks and support developers in the analysis and syntheses of complex engineering artifacts. A very common application is product configuration. In the past, different reasoning techniques have been proposed, one of them model-based reasoning and in particular constraint satisfaction problems. In the present contribution, the authors report about a case-study about the implementation of a constraint-based configuration system with onboard resources of a computer aided design system.
