Abstract
Kepler's laws for the planets represent a general solution of the so-called Keplerian problem which is a prototype of the straightforward solution of the equations of motion in celestial mechanics. It is the starting point of various orbital theories for planetary motions, the translational motion of the moons as well as of artificial satellites and interplanetary spacecraft. Here, we want to remind in the publication of these laws by Johannes Kepler (Bialas 2004, Caspar 1958) 400 years ago and discuss conditions for their further use.
